When her relationship with FBI agent Dutch Rivers skids to a halt, Abby Cooper is fully aware that a wedding isn't the best post-breakup scenario. But when a friend from the Mile High City finds herself short one bridesmaid, it doesn't take a professional psychic to see the opportunity for a much-needed getaway. High altitudes can be healing, and Abby reunites with friends--especially her childhood crush Duffy McGinnis, now town sheriff...not to mention tall, dark, and yummy. But Abby needs more than a shoulder to cry on. One bridesmaid after the next is mysteriously flying the coop, and Abby's intuition tells her their final destinations aren't pretty.
With the wedding party falling apart and her gift of sight never quite so foggy, Abby has to save the date--and herself from becoming the next taffeta-clad target....
I really do enjoy this series. I think out of the books so far this one was my favorite. I loved the story and the mystery in this one. Abby is Abby and makes a mess of things as usual. Dutch is Dutch and makes a mess of things. There is murder and mystery and it's very fast paced.
Abby heads off to the mountains to visit a friend. A friend who is about to get married and has lost a brides maid. She is MIA and no explanation... at least not a good one. So Abby (who was planning to attend as a guest) ends up a brides maid. While there she realizes the bridesmaid that is MIA is DOA instead. Things are starting to happen, the bridesmaids... including Abby are in real grave danger. Abby must figure it out before its too late.
I will keep this one short and sweet since everyone knows I hold this series near and dear to my heart. Just a couple of things that I loved about this installment.
The setting.... it was fun and different from what I usually get from this series. I love it when the MC of books go on vacation or travel.
New characters.... I absolutely adored the new characters in this book. Abbys friend and her brother are just so lovable and a great new addition to the story. I hope future books will feature them again.
The mystery.... The mystery was so much fun in this one. It felt more like a old 90's slasher film but not as much murder and mayhem. It had a nice feel to it and I really did enjoy it.
The start of the book.... The story starts with such a bang that I just couldn't put it down. I was hooked from the very first sentence.
Just like all the other installments this one is written well with a fast pace and very quirky characters.
The only thing I didn't like... it was good for the story but made me want to slap some characters. Abby and Dutch are just a bit of fools in this book. Dutch is being a man and makes some stupid choices... Abby is being a girl and getting too emotional and jumps to conclusions. This of course turns things into a mess.... now I didn't dislike it because it didn't fit or was dumb. It caused some needed drama but I just wanted to slap them both.
In the end things work out the way they are supposed to and I just loved the read.
My favorite of the series so far!
Victoria Laurie is the New York Times bestselling author of 30 books and counting. Victoria divides her time between her two adult mystery series, (The Psychic Eye Mysteries, and The Ghost Hunter Mysteries), and a Y/A thriller, When (Formerly titled Death Date), to be released in early January of 2015.
As a professional psychic, Victoria's protagonists - psychic Abigail Cooper, and spiritual medium M. J. Holliday - tackle the tricky world of the paranormal while fighting bad guys and demons with plenty of plucky humor and determination.
And using that keen understanding of the paranormal, Victoria also created the character of Maddie Fynn, a teenager with the unique intuitive ability to predict the exact date of someone's death.
To showcase her writing range, Victoria has also penned a children's epic adventure series, The Oracles of Delphi Keep.
I've never heard of this series, but it sounds really good! I have friends who LOVE these kinds of mysteries, but I really haven't ever read one. Maybe I'll pick up this author to give it a try!
