Wee Reads: The Windy Day by Tony Sandoval

Ever since Finn was born, and even before then, we would read to him. We wanted to show him reading from an early age. Now he loves us to read the same books, over, and over, and over. But it is the sweetest thing, when he likes to pick out a book and climb into our laps.

The Windy DayThe Windy Day by Tony Sandoval

A young girl sets out on her own to fly her kite and encounters a pirate cloud full of goblins looking to cause trouble. She is rescued by a big black wolf who scare the goblins away and stays to help her fly her kite as high as possible...

Do you like this book?

No it was too weird!

What's your favorite part of the book?

When the giant wolf dog came in!

What do you think of the cover?

I like the kite and the words!

This book was really hard to read on the kindle. The formatting was off, so the pictures were funky and the words were funky. And it was all funky.

The story itself was also kind of weird. I understand it's about imagination and facing fears and being courageous and you're stronger than you seem. But the execution was weird.

The artwork was gorgeous though. From what I could tell. The colors were beautiful.

Wee Reads: The Sinking of Captain Otter by Troy Wilson and Maira Chiodi

Ever since Finn was born, and even before then, we would read to him. We wanted to show him reading from an early age. Now he loves us to read the same books, over, and over, and over. But it is the sweetest thing, when he likes to pick out a book and climb into our laps.

The Sinking of Captain OtterThe Sinking of Captain Otter by Troy Wilson and Maira Chiodi

Kelpy is an otter--and also a passionate sea captain. He builds himself a ship that he adores, from keel to cabin to crow's nest. All the other otters and pirates and sharks just laugh at Kelpy's ramshackle craft, but Kelpy sails on. Until one day on the high seas, he encounters a sailor even more laughable than himself--a petite butterfly pirate in a teeny-tiny boat.
Kelpy's laughter shifts to empathy when he realizes how much he has hurt the tiny pirate's feelings. So Kelpy decides to scuttle his beloved boat in a playful ploy to repair the emotional damage he's done. Along the way, an unlikely friendship (and rivalry) begins.
Packed with rhyme, repetition, and lots of humor, this is a read-aloud with a heartwarming message about following your dreams even in the face of ridicule and doubt, and how even an underdog can lift someone up.

Do you like this book?

No it's weird. I can't read the words.

What's your favorite part of the book?

When he let's the butterfly sink his ship, but not really. He was nice to the butterfly.

What do you think of the cover?

I like the otter and the bird!

This is an absolutely adorable book about being yourself, and saying you don't care what other people think, as long as it makes you happy.

It's also a great book about being nice to others, and being selfless to help them out and make them happy. Even if it means giving up something that you love.

Finn didn't like this book because once again it was weird on the kindle. I know he'd love it if it was in actual book form. The artwork is cute, and I love the story.

Wee Reads: Octopus Escapes by Nathaniel Lachenmeyer

Ever since Finn was born, and even before then, we would read to him. We wanted to show him reading from an early age. Now he loves us to read the same books, over, and over, and over. But it is the sweetest thing, when he likes to pick out a book and climb into our laps.

Octopus EscapesOctopus Escapes by Nathaniel Lachenmeyer

Told in rhyming couplets, Octopus Escapes is a story that keeps up with Octopus and a security guard who is outsmarted at every turn. A sure bet for read-aloud fun, this entertaining maraud through the amphibious exhibits also includes fun facts about cephalopods. This fun fanciful story is shored up with real information about octopuses and depicts how they move and sneak. With a blend of kid-appeal and fun facts, this engaging story creatively uses sound words, easily enticing repeat readings

Do you like this book?

Eh, not really. It looked funny.

What's your favorite part of the book?

When the octopus inked on the shark! And he splashed the penguins!

What do you think of the cover?

I like the octopus. And he's making a funny face.

The only reason Finn says Nah is because the book was completely difficult to read on the kindle. It was out of order and the words were weird.

Anyway!

This book was short but quite funny. It would have been a lot better if it was in order and easier to read.

The artwork is interesting, I can't really decide if I like it or not. It looks like a kid drew it, which is normally a good thing but this just looks kind of awkward.

I received an e-book to review and it in no way effects my review.
