Dewey's24 Hour Read A Thon October 2014 Hours 7-12

It is that time of year again and I am so excited. 

I would love to make it all night this time, we shall see. Here are my stack of books too read....

Hour 7: 

Halfway through first book. Gonna do a change of pace and start one of my other books.

I don't have any books I am more proud to own than any other. I love all my books. But I do have an autograph book I take to signings and I love it. I have many YA authors signatures, some even more than once. I absolutely love meeting authors. So this I am most proud of.... 

   

Hour 9: 

Started reading.... just a few pages though.

Challenge: OF Food and Books hosted by  A Girl That Likes Books 

I am not a cook, my daughter is and she collects cookbooks. So I am using a Hunger Games Cookbook for this challenge. 

Fall means soup to me sooo here is a soup recipe that sounds yummy.... I haven't tried it but I will hopefully soon. 

District 13's Rejuvenating Beef  Stew: 

 A mouth watering beef stew that contains sirloin steak, lots of yummy spices, potatoes, onions, celery and carrots...oh don't forget the turnip. 

Something that is made from fresh veggies and some delicious meat on a cold day while getting ready for a rebellion. Sounds just right. 

Hour 10: 

About a third way through What is Hidden. Reading this book much quicker and I think I finally have my groove.

I recommended Breathe by Sarah Crossan - . Its a great survival story with a bit of conspiracy in the pages. A story about friendship, love, and sacrifice. I think you should give this one a go on your next read.

1. I am from Texas and I am hoping today is a very nice day so I can read some outside.

2. I am most excited for They All Fall Down, and I will be starting off with that book.

3. I love my coffee breaks!!!

4. I may be a little more distracted this time around because my 14 month old grandson will be hanging around all day. His mamma is participating too... So we shall see how much reading gets done.

5. I didn't get to participate last time, but previous to that one, I have never made the entire 24 hours... I really want to to this time. I always have too many expectations too. I have none this time except to have fun and enjoy.

Hour 2:
Long morning- not reading yet. But will start any moment. Here is the next challenge

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly 

When seventeen-year-old Minnow stumbles out of the woods one winter morning, she is haunted and handless and covered in someone else’s blood. She has just escaped the strict religious commune run by a cruel man named the Prophet. In exchange for freedom, she leaves behind her family, her home, and Jude--an outsider boy who changed everything.

A modern retelling of the Grimm fairy tale, "The Handless Maiden," in which the Devil orders a girl's hands cut off, The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly is the story of a girl growing out of the wreckage of corrupted faith.

Just sounds creeps, intense, and its a fairtytale retelling. Granted I am not familiar with this fairytale but I shall be before reading this book.
