Gossip girl meets Hollywood in this new series from That Boy author, Jillian Dodd.
The Keatyn Chronicles: Stalk me.
Keatyn has everything she ever dreamed. Her life is following the script she wrote for the perfect high school experience. She’s popular, goes to the best parties, dates the hottest guy, and sits at the most-coveted lunch table.
She’s just not sure she wants it anymore.
Because, really, things aren’t all that perfect.
Her best friend is threatening to tell everyone her perfect relationship is a scam.
Her perfect boyfriend gets drunk at every party they go to.
It’s exhausting always trying to look and act perfect.
And, deep down, she isn’t sure if she has any true friends.
To add to the drama, her movie star mom has a creepy stalker.
A hot, older man flirts with her and tells her they should make a movie together.
And she’s crushing on an adorable surfer. Dating him would mean committing social suicide.
So she writes a new script. One where all the pieces of her life will come together in perfect harmony.
But little does she know, there's someone who will do anything to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Keatyn is the daughter of a beautiful actress. She goes to school where everyone knows her name and her mother's name. She is in a relationship with the hottest boy in school, has the second hottest player hitting on her, and is in love with surfer. She would love her life to go as planned, the way she wrote the script, but it doesn't. She is confused over where she fits in, who she really is, and which friends are her true friends. In the meantime of figuring out how to solve her problems, a stalker is on the loose.

I did enjoy the book. It had some very humorous moments and fun parts. I was compelled to turn each page wanting to know what is going to happen next (even though most of it was pretty predictable). I really couldn't the book down. It was a pretty fast moving book and easy to get through.
There were a few things I had issues with the book, and really they all came down to the characters, except for one. I really wanted to like the characters and connect with them but I couldn't. Keatyn had her good moments, but for the most part she annoyed me. I really think Keatyn was to come across as mature but to me she was very immature and always trying to act mature. She did choose to be responsible most of the time, she partied but didn't seem to over do it. Most of the time she knew her limits. I think what bothered me is her constant need to change but really never did anything to change. She jumped from boy to boy throughout the entire book. This wouldn't have bothered me if it ever seemed where at least one meant something to her. When she finally realizes she is in love, it doesn't seem to take her long to forget about the boy and move on. All of the reason I didn't like her would have been okay if she would have learned from her mistakes or if there was any personal growth involved but there wasn't. I do want to say though, even know she annoyed me... I still liked the story and kept reading. She was annoying but she was also a major key part in making the story enjoyable.
I didn't much like her main crush either. He was cool at first but turned into something icky really quick.. He does redeem himself some at the end but he wasn't my favorite for sure. The other boy, Cush, I liked him. He still had is ick moments but he was a winner in my eyes, at least in this story. I really wanted to see more Cush and I really wanted it to happen for Cush and Keatyn.
So other than the lack of growth for the characters. I liked the story. I really wished there had been more on the stalker. It kind of took back seat to the drama, partying, and hooking up. I can say that I will continue to read the books. The book ended without resolution and I really want closure. I want to know what happens and I want to see Keatyn actually grow. I am hoping the lack of growth is just the beginning of a very long personal journey in books to come.

I liked it enough to carry on the series. I usually don't like books where I am not connected to the characters but this one did draw me in. I will say that it feels like it's going to be a guilty pleasure for me. Nothing really deep, just fun.
I've always written scripts for my perfect life.
But no way could I have ever scripted this.
My life is so far from perfect, it’s not even funny.
All because of a stalker.
I’m at a boarding school where I have to lie about who I am.
I can’t see my family.
I’m tutoring a Hottie God that tortures me with his smile.
The most popular girl already hates me.
But there’s this boy.
This hot, sweet, sexy boy.
So I’m going to stop trying to script my life and just live it.
Because who knows how long I have left.
