Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Surprised Me (In a good or bad way)

Top Ten is an original feature/weekly meme created here at
The Artsy Reader Girl that features a great bookish top ten every week.

Books that surprised me, either in a good, or a bad way.

Ash-

I'm going to do half and half. Half books that surprised me in a good way, and half books that surprised me in a bad way. So let's start with surprised me in a good way.

The Call (The Call #1)Baby DollThe Naturals (The Naturals, #1)The Girl Who Was Supposed to DieFollow Me Back (Follow Me Back, #1)

And the ones that surprised me in a not so good way.

Grimm Fairy Tales: Alice In WonderlandThe 11th HourMind Games (Mind Games, #1)The First Days (As the World Dies, #1)Cuckoo Song

Jenn-

I will do a split too like Ash.
These are the books that suprised me in a good way. I just didn't know they would be so good.

Obsidian (Lux, #1)Midnight at the ElectricTo Kill a KingdomFinnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles, #1)Between Shades of Gray

The ones that surprised in a bad way. I just had higher expectations and they disappointed me.

Harmony HouseSpellcaster (Spellcaster, #1)We All Fall DownLabyrinth Lost (Brooklyn Brujas, #1)The Belles (The Belles #1)

  1. YES to FOLLOW ME BACK!!! I was not expeciting to really like that one at all-- and I ended up 100% OBSESSED with it.

Also, I'm happy to see THE GIRL WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE on here. I really like April Henry, so I am excited to read that one :)

  4. Ooh, I'm glad Midnight at the Electric and To Kill a Kingdom are in the good surprise category, I'm really looking forward to reading those. I was also very disappointed by Labyrinth Lost. I also think I have a copy of Baby Doll somewhere around here, so I'll have to pick it up now!

  9. I keep hearing great things about Follow Me Back so I'm excited to see it on the list of good surprises. Same with To Kill a Kingdom, which I just checked out of the library today and can't wait to read.

  10. Oh, I am so happy to see To Kill A Kingdom on your list! It was fantastic and even was a surprise for me too. When I started it I never imagined I would like it so much that it would be a 5 star read for me. Like what? :D

Oh I am sorry that The Belles disappointed you. I want to read it so badly :(

  12. You've chosen some great titles! It's a shame that The Belles and Cuckoo Song have appeared on your bad surprises lists because I've been really excited about reading both of them! I'm also torn on The Call: it surprised me in a good way because it was much more interesting than I thought it was going to be, but I also didn't like it all that much. Great lists!

  13. I was pleasantly surprised by Obsidian too! I read it when it was being really hyped up so I was worried that I'd end up hating it but fortunately I didn't :)
