For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
What made me pick this book up:
I originally read this book years ago, so who knows why I did then. Probably because of the pretty dress on the cover.
What did I like about the cover:
The dress is stunning, absolutely beautiful. And I love having faces on the covers of my books, it helps me to picture them better. The colors are stunning as well.
What made me read this book:
This time around, I knew I wanted to start the series over, because I never got through it. I've read the first three, but not the rest. And it matched up for a task in the reading challenge, so it was perfect.
What did I like the most:
I absolutely love this book. I'm not sure what it is, but this book just pulls you in and makes you love it. The main character is okay, she does what she thinks she needs to do. Maxon is just amazing. He is basically everything you could ask for in a guy.
It's very well written, where you can picture yourself there. And the competition is all fun. I loved reading about all the different girls, and I got all excited any time she was with Maxon.
What didn't I like:
America is very back and forth the entire book. I do not like Aspen and I don't like their relationship. He just needs to go away.
Would I read the rest of the series/more from this author?
Yes yes yes yes!!
Yes yes yes yes!!
I am absolutely in love with this book. I did not want to put it down!

ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Shell's Stories!
I loved this one too! I thought the original trilogy was fantastic, but I definitely don't recommend continuing after that...
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear! I'm currently borrowing this book from a friend but I haven't felt like reading it though. Your review changes that!
