Introducing Bloggy Buddy where we feature the bloggy friends we love so much!
Jordan's blog is one I very much enjoy visiting, her posts are great, and I feel like we have quite a bit in common, book wise.
She's always so sweet to everyone too.
So get to know Jordan.
What name do you like to go by?
I just go by Jordan. :)
How long have you been blogging?
I've been blogging on and off for many years, but I started this blog in the beginning of 2015 and have been consistent and loving it since.
What inspired you to start blogging?
So many things! One big reason was because I wanted to start talking about books more since not many of my friends/family read that much and I didn't really have any outlet to meet like-minded people. I thought that blogging might help me delve into the world of books and meet other readers that I could interact with and share a love of reading with. Another more personal reason was because I desperately needed something to do with my time. At the time of starting my blog, I had extremely poor health and was currently in the middle of taking a quarter off of university as a result. I wanted to stay productive needed to give myself something semi-structured to do with my time--and I guess it worked!
What was your first blog post?
It looks like my first ever post was in September of 2014 and it was a review for The Queen of the Tearing!
What are some unique features you do on your blog?
Honestly, at the moment I'm not running any unique features regularly. I've had so many reviews and other things to do that I haven't had the time to focus on any, but I've actually been working hard on some new that hopefully I can have up within the next few months. One feature that I did in the past and really enjoyed was an indie bookstore spotlight where I had followers on my Tumblr and blog send me some of their favorite indie bookstores that I would then feature. It was a lot of fun to see people's favorite stores and why they loved them.
What was your inspiration behind your blog design and name?
What was your inspiration behind your blog design and name?
It's hard to come up with names when you don't know how important it will be or if you will stick with it, but I knew that I wanted it to convey a love of books in some manner. I thought about how a common feature of any reading is about becoming lost in the story (fiction or nonfiction) and just investing yourself in that story. So, one day 'Forever Lost in Literature' popped up in my head and I decided to go with because that's pretty much how I want to live the rest of my life--lost in books! I also wanted it to be a name that invites others to come and lose themselves in books as well.
What genres do you like to read and feature?
I'm really open to a lot of genres and will read pretty much anything if it appeals to me, but the genres I'm most drawn have always been fantasy and historical fiction. I do tend to feature these genres more than others, but I do like to incorporate a wide variety of genres (nonfiction, middle grade books, science fiction, etc.) into my reading as well as my blog.
What were some of your favorite reads from last year?
Ooh, there were so many. I made a favorites of 2017 post at the end of last year that had a fair few, but out of those I'd have to say that The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne, The Court of Broken Knives by Anna Smith Spark, and A Plague of Giants by Kevin Hearne, The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee, and Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde really stood out to me the most.
Three blogs you really love?
It is so hard to pick just three! I'll have to go with:
Because AJ is incredible and I love her taste in books
Because Cait is such an honest and entertaining blogger. Her posts always have great insights and definitely keep me laughing.
Because Wendell always features a fantastic array of fantasy books and has great content!
And lastly, tell us a bit about yourself and your blog.
I love Forever Lost in Literature! I love big dogs, too. While I was running yesterday, I passed a guy who was walking 3 Great Danes, and I had to stop and pet them because they were SO BIG.
