It’s almost Christmas. With the global holiday days away, the people of the world should be turning their attention toward celebrating peace and goodwill, but tension between humans, vampires, and væmpires is at an all-time high. Desperate for solutions, King Brant schedules a secret summit deep in North America’s Northern Forest. Along with Queen Anne, Princess Cassandra, Daniel’s family, and the human President and First Lady, the vampire leader seeks to reaffirm the ties between humans and vampires, while brainstorming ways to respond to the growing hostility among væmpires.
Meanwhile, Daniel and Cassie’s relationship is at an all-time low. The princess is still reeling from her breakup with Vielyn, and Daniel doesn’t know what he should or shouldn’t do to help. Little does he know that the summit will be flooded with surprises—guests, allegations, accusations, proposals, and even Christmas Eve revelations—but not all of the surprises will be pleasant.

When I joined this tour I was really excited about this series. I was a little gun shy to commit to all three books when I hadn't read one. I am so glad I did. I love this series. Wonderfully written, entertaining characters, and a very exciting new world, it had everything I needed for a great read. The first book is a prelude and tells the beginning of the love story between Daniel and Cassie. Very soft and romantic, a sweet new love, but also the setting is built for the oncoming war.
In a world where Vampires and Humans live in peace, their only worry is the Vaempires, the mutated vampires, Daniel and Cassie fall in love. Daniel and Cassie have been best friends since they could crawl. Their families bonded together, Cassie is the vampire princess and Daniel is the son of the leader of the King's Guards. After fates change Cassie's future, Daniel finds a way to finally tell Cassie of his feelings.
This was a great novella to start off a wonderful series. The series is dark but this novella is sweet. I loved the romance in this story. It is very short, it's a novella, and it's told from Daniel's point of view as he tries to find a way to make his feelings known. No insta love, it's been coming for quite a while. I will say it again, the love is sweet. No lustful passion, just SWEET, perfect, love.
I really love Daniel and Cassie. I was only able to get to know the peaceful side of them in this novella, but I did get a glimpse of their loyalty to each other, their families, their species, and the peace of their world.
The writing was beautiful, vivid, I felt as if I was in the world with Daniel and Cassie and the vampires. The pacing was just perfect, never too slow and never rushed. The novella is a great story to sit down and read in one sitting.
A great beginning. This novella isn't a have to read for the series but it is a must read. It is the only bright moment in a very dark series. So enjoy it before darkness falls. I loved it.

Tom writes in his spare time. His first novel, Temporary Insanity, was a 2008 finalist in a national contest but failed to garner industry attention. Væmpires: Revolution, his second novel (first in the Væmpires series) was published in October and Væmpires: White Christmas followed in December.
He is an avid collector of books, comic books, music, and movies. His interests are diverse: on any given day, Tom is likely to be found watching a horror movie, attending a hard rock concert, or enjoying a Broadway show.
He is currently working on the next installment of the “Væmpires” series, which is scheduled for a 2013 release.
Thank you so much, Jenn Renee--for being part of my tour, for taking the time to read all three books, and for the thoughtful, amazing reviews! I'm so glad you liked vaempires and I promise that there's much more to come.
