Cover Up! Meow!

This feature I will just gab, remark, feature book covers.

These are my favorite kids books with kitties on the cover

The Color Kittens
The Color Kittens by Margaret Wise Brown

Once there were two color kittens with green eyes, Brush and Hush . . .So goes the rollicking tale of two pouncy kittens who make all the colors in the world. First published more than 50 years ago, this much-requested title is now available as a Little Golden Book Classic, with its original cover!

Mr. Wuffles!
Mr. Wuffles by David Wiesner

In a near wordless masterpiece that could only have been devised by David Wiesner, a cat named Mr. Wuffles doesn't care about toy mice or toy goldfish. He’s much more interested in playing with a little spaceship full of actual aliens—but the ship wasn't designed for this kind of rough treatment. Between motion sickness and damaged equipment, the aliens are in deep trouble. When the space visitors dodge the cat and take shelter behind the radiator to repair the damage, they make a host of insect friends. The result? A humorous exploration of cooperation between aliens and insects, and of the universal nature of communication involving symbols, “cave” paintings, and gestures of friendship.

Mr. Pusskins: A Love Story
Mr. Pusskins by Sam Lloyd

Mr. Pusskins doesn't want to play mouse games.
He thinks snuggling is for the birds.
Having his fur combed?
Listening to cozy bedtime stories?

Boring!
Mr. Pusskins goes in search of adventure.
But along the way he finds out how much love is waiting for him at home.

Maneki Neko: The Tale of the Beckoning Cat
Maneki Neko: The Tale of the Beckoning Cat by Susan Lendroth

In a small Japanese village, a poor monk and his cat Tama live a simple life at the Kotoku Monastery. One day, a great storm passes through the village, and Tama is caught in the rain outside the temple. She waits under the eaves of a small shrine, cleaning her face and whiskers as best she can with her paw. A noble samurai is also passing through, and stops his horse under the cover of a large tree. But through the rain, what does he see? A cat with a raised paw, beckoning him forward? Curious, the samurai urges his horse forward. Just then, a bolt of lightning flashes and strikes the tree behind him, splitting it in two. The beckoning cat has saved his life. In his gratitude, the samurai brings riches to the small temple and the monk, who shares his wealth with the village.
So goes the Japanese legend of Maneki Neko, the beckoning cat. And to this day, the cat with raised paw beckoning guests is a symbol of good luck and good fortune in many Asian countries. Susan Lendroth's retell
