Torn Away by Jennifer Brown
Jersey Cameron has always loved a good storm. Watching the clouds roll in and the wind pick up. Smelling the electricity in the air. Dancing barefoot in the rain. She lives in the Midwest, after all, where the weather is sure to keep you guessing. Jersey knows what to do when the tornado sirens sound. But she never could have prepared for this.
When her town is devastated by a tornado, Jersey loses everything. As she struggles to overcome her grief, she's sent to live with relatives she hardly knows-family who might as well be strangers. In an unfamiliar place, can Jersey discover that even on the darkest of days, there are some things no tornado can destroy?
In this powerful and poignant novel, acclaimed author Jennifer Brown delivers a story of love, loss, hope, and survival.

Top Ten To Read Or Not To Read Books - most are going to end up not to read. I have so many books on my TBR, its hard to read those I am not too excited for.
1. Morganville Vampire Books : I read the first two. I enjoyed the first got bored in the second. I read the first, listened to the second. Not sure if it was the audio or if I am just not into these books.
2. Artemis Fowl Books.
3. Bloody Jack
4. Nicholas Flamel series
2-4 are series I started, liked, then didn't finish the series. I would need to reread the books to finish. It takes a lot for me to re-read.
5. Eon: I have heard its good but its long and some of the reviws make me wonder if I will get bored with too much detail and story.
6. Ruby Red: I tried the audio and just couldn't do it. I really want to read this book but just haven't had the desire to pick it up since the audio. (the audio sounded liked it was a bad recording)
7. House of Night Series: I read til about book 4 and got bored, but I still want to know what happens. Hmmm yea maybe one day.
8. Shadows by Ilsa Bick : Loved the first one. The second one I have heard mixed reviews and its long, very long. Scared to read it and not like it.
8. Stormdancer: Another book I have heard great and not so great things about. Either you like the writing or not. Afraid I may not, but really curious about the book.
The next two are new adult. I like very few new adult but have heard great things about these. I want to read but a little afraid too because of the genre.
9. Edge of Never
10. Just One Day
Bottom line. I have lots of maybe books that sit on my tbr. I have a reason or good time to read them, I will, but there are so many must reads on my list too, they come first. These are just some that are maybe one days that are on the top of my maybe list.

Gah I keep seeing Torn Away EVERYWHERE. I really need to read it at some point... I've heard that it's rather incredible :)
ReplyDeleteI actually just read Eon really recently (couple of days ago) and I do have to say that it's quite heavily character focused. Definitely a lot of details that honestly didn't feel THAT necessary, but it's pretty good overall!
I've only read Ruby Red on your list and I actually really loved the book and the trilogy as a whole. I don't have much experience with audiobooks, so I'm not sure how strongly that could sway your opinion on a story. Maybe read through the first couple of chapters to see if it sparks any interest :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for you're list! Sorry I couldn't comment more on your choices! Great post though :)
I keep debating over the Morganville Vampires too. I read a sample of the first book but never got into it. Maybe because it was a sample and didn't go very far, but I was upset. I remember Rachel telling me about starting this series a few years before it released when I first met her and was excited about it, but then I read the sample and was like meh.
ReplyDeleteRuby Red is the only one I keep meaning to try out. I won a copy years ago when it first released and had every intention of reading it, but other books kept getting in the way. I blame Borders closing for my TBR stack becoming a mountain. That and the RT conventions I went to. I have no willpower against buying or accepting (FREE) books!
Here's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I really liked the first few Artemis Fowl books, and the first Nicholas Flamel book, but I haven't continued either one.
