It didn’t take long for the world to die. And it didn’t take long, either, for the dead to rise.

Born on the day everything ended, a world filled with the walking dead is the only one that Aaron knows. Kept in seclusion, his family teaches him the basics. How to read and write. How to survive.

Then Aaron makes a shocking discovery. The undead, who desire nothing but flesh, ignore him. It’s as if he’s invisible to them.

The survivors of the old suburb of Lexington call a high school their home. They live day to day, without any of the luxuries mankind used to enjoy. Samantha is a product of the new world. Alone, cold, looking out only for herself. She and the other residents of Lexington feel their hope dwindling. They need change. They need someone who can face the corpses. They need someone who can live in a city of the dead.

I love a good zombie read. This book was exciting, action packed, full of zombies, and was a great story. I loved the main character, the story was original even for a zombie story, and it was fun. A very quick read,  paced well, and easy to get through. I enjoyed the book very much.

Aaron was born on the same day the zombie virus started. His mother died during birth and he was raised by his father and 3 others that came together the day he was born. its 23 years later and the zombies are everywhere.Aaron has a special gift or secret.... the zombies don't like him. They ignore him, walk right past him, pretend he is not there. Aaron is the only chance that any new civilization may have to rebuild.

Samantha lives at an old school in Lexington that has become a surviving community. Out on a supply run in Baltimore, tragedy strikes and Samantha finds herself fending for herself against a bunch of zombies. Of course Aaron is around and saves the day. The become quick allies and set out for Lexington, to take Samantha home.

Aaron soon realizes that this community just may need him and he just may need them.

This was a very short read and very quick and very enjoyable. For a small book, there were tons happening in the story. The book written well for the story. Simple and easy to be quick but enough there to really get into the story and feel that there is something lacking. I was actually quite surprised how much was jammed into this 232 page book and it didn't feel rushed. There were lots of action, tons of fights, a tiny bit of romance, and a lot of self discovery. The characters were pretty darn awesome and the story was good.

The story was a zombie story. It  had every important aspect of a zombie story. Zombies, gore, survival, and good and bad characters. The zombies weren't the only bad people in the book. There were those that did what hey had to do to survive, even sacrifice.... There were others who used the weaker to make their life easier or better for them... and there were just plain out jerks. There were also some pretty decent characters. Leaders who stood up and took control to make a safe place for survivors, women and men who took over the parental needs of orphaned children, and those like Aaron who believed in helping anyone who needs help.

Aaron for sure was my favorite part of the story. He was just so awesome. He was sweet, caring, logical, brave, and selfish. He honestly did believe in helping anyone that needed to be helped. He lived out on his own because he didn't trust people, for good reasons, yet he still vowed to help strangers. He did what he could without trying to step on toes. For the most part he was gentle and sweet, but he knew how to turn vicious when needed and wasn't easy at forgiving those who didn't deserve it. He was very intelligent too and could be quite comical. He was straight forward and told it like it was. Its been a long time where I totally liked a character and they didn't make me angry even once in the story.

Now Samantha made me angry at times and I wanted to slap her but she was still great too. She had her problems but with Aaron in her life, she learned how to care, be a part of team, and how to be a friend. things she gave up long ago. What I loved about her was her ability to fight. She could really kick butt. She rocked the battles. Another awesome thing about Samantha was he was a determined person. She wouldn't give up or back down from what she thought was right or needed to be done.

The story was a good one. It wasn't just about survival or battleing the zombies. It was about trust, ,friendship, and of course a little bit romance. It was about Aaron finding his place and Samantha finding herself.

This was an adult book, more of New Adult ages but was very tame. It read more like a YA book. I think YA lovers and Adult readers will enjoy this book.

I really enjoyed the book. I am not sure if it will be a series. There doesn't seem to be any indication it will but I would love to read more of Aaron and Samantha's story.

I live in Maryland with my wonderful wife and four cats. I love gaming, computer technology, movies, and of course, reading and writing. I love science fiction and especially horror and the paranormal. Ghosts, vampires, werewolves, zombies, anything supernatural, all beautiful subjects.

I’ve been writing since I was twelve years old. There’s just something about creating a story that I like. I always try come up with something that hasn’t been done, or is unique in some way. It could be someone with demonic powers, or something much more simple, such as a person that zombies ignore. It’s fun to create a character, give him or her a personality and background, and watch them evolve through a story.

I’ve tried other subjects, but always drift back to horror and paranormal. There’s a reason why we keep going back to horror movies and books, why they’ve made fifty Friday the 13th movies. People like to be scared, but more than that, I think paranormal and horror stir the imagination like nothing else. We’re all just a little nervous to open that closet door at midnight, or look under the bed.
