When having two powers makes you a Super and having none makes you a Normal, having only one makes you a sad half-superpowered freak.

It makes you a One.

Sixteen-year-old Merrin Grey would love to be able to fly – too bad all she can do is hover.

If she could just land an internship at the Biotech Hub, she might finally figure out how to fix herself. She busts her butt in AP Chem and salivates over the Hub’s research on the manifestation of superpowers, all in hopes of boosting her chances.

Then she meets Elias VanDyne, another One, and all her carefully crafted plans fly out the window. Literally. When the two of them touch, their Ones combine to make them fly, and when they’re not soaring over the Nebraska cornfields, they’re busy falling for each other.

Merrin's mad chemistry skills land her a spot on the Hub's internship short list, but as she gets closer to the life she always wanted, she discovers that the Hub’s purpose is more sinister than it has always seemed. Now it’s up to her to decide if it's more important to fly solo, or to save everything - and everyone - she loves.

I love a great superhero book. They are hard to find in YA and I hope to start seeing more in the future. I was really excited when I first found this book on a WOW post and I was super excited for the tour. I LOVED this book! I had a strong feeling I would like the book but I was not prepared to be blown away. I was hooked very early on and just couldn't put it down. I want more, I need more, I must have MORE!

Somewhere in the not so distant future, mutants have become a normal part of life. They have two genes that make them a super, to fly, to heal, to speed, and so much more. There are Supers, there are Normals, and then there are Ones.... Ones only have one of the two genes. They are missing part of their superpower that makes their superpower work... In Merrin's case she can float by making herself light but she cannot control the air to enable her to fly. Merrin moves away from Super and starts to attend a Normal school while her twin Super brothers enjoy the spot light. Merrin wants to be Super and she keeps hope that one day her missing gene will develop. In the Normal school she becomes friends with other Ones and soon discovers that there is a way she can fly. The only problem is that the knowledge also comes with some pretty heavy secrecy and danger. Merrin starts to evaluate everything she wanted in life.

WOWZERS! This book was just so crazy good. It took me all but 9 percent to be totally hooked. I loved the story, the sci-fi feel, the characters, the writing, and everything else that appeared in between. I loved loved loved loved this book.

The story was so original for me. I loved the Super, One, and Normal identities, the reason for the Ones, the reason for the Supers. I enjoyed the science part of the book, even at times I didn't really understand, it understood enough to know it sounded good. In the very beginning the story started kind of in the middle and the further I read, more of the story became available and it was pieced it together so very smoothly. Even thought I was unaware of everything that happened prior to the Super and Ones, I didn't feel lost. The author did an amazing job with every stage and every transition and I didn't have to scratch my head ever, not even once. The writing was very well done for me.

The characters were all so amazing too. I liked every character. Merrin rocked. I was able to connect to her and never felt she was out of her element. She knew from the beginning what she wanted but she was able to adapt very well once she found her place, even when it wasn't where she thought it should have been. She was kind of gloomy in the beginning but not overly so. She was a very strong character. She didn't make waves until she needed to and when she did she was on fire. She was also very small and I liked the big boom that came out of such a tiny girl.

I absolutely adored Elias. He was just so sweet and cute. He seemed very quiet and not very much of a wave maker either but he did surprise me. He did grab hold of my heart and held on tightly, he was pretty incredible. There were two other characters, friends of Elias, that made some appearances too. Daniel and Leni. I really liked both of them. I was able to see more of Leni than Daniel, and she was pretty cool. Cheerleader by day, but part of the Scooby gang at night. Daniel was a sweet character, more the nerdy type than Elias. I hope to see more of him in the next book.

There is a pretty quick love story. Its over a couple of months. I felt it fit to the story and it was sweet. It didn't bother me at all that it was quick. I enjoyed watching it unfold and Elias and Merrin fit so well together, total opposites but yet the same. I will admit, their love story made me swoon, coo, giggle, and smile while I read. It made the story for me.

I do wish there was more of the world building. Not something I would normally say, but I was fascinated by the Supers and Ones and would have liked a little bit more on others around them and the world they live in. The Hub is so high tech, their everyday life is so high tech, I hope to see more of the world and the Supers and Ones in the next book.

Most of the book is about Merrin and Elias story. Their relationship, but there is a bit of suspense and mystery in the end of the book. Some good thrilling moments with some pretty cool action. I was intrigued by the mystery in the story. It doesn't happen until that last of the book but it was good and kept me turning the pages, the need to figure out what was going on. The book is definitely a build up for what's to come and I have a great feeling its going to get more awesome!

I can't say much more. I absolutely adored the book. I loved every bit of it and I am jonesing for more.

Raised on comic books and classic novels, Leigh Ann developed an early love of science fiction and literature. As an adult, she rediscovered her love for not only reading, but also writing the types of fiction that enchanted her as a teen. Her debut novel, ONE, is about a girl with only half a superpower, the boy who makes her fly, and her struggle to make herself whole.

Leigh Ann, her husband, and four children live in Columbus, Ohio. When she’s not immersed in the world of fiction, you can find her obsessing over the latest superhero movie or using her kids as an excuse to go out for ice cream (again.)
