Goodreads Summary:

Hell on earth.

That's what it's like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel.

It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts - immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students: Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.

At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn't told her everything. He's hiding something - something dangerous.

What if Daniel's version of the past isn't actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?

The second novel in the addictive FALLEN series...where love never dies.

Review:
This is the second book in the Fallen series. I did enjoy some parts of this book, although some parts were a bit slow for me. I have concluded that this book is really just a build up for the next book in the series.

The story continues for Luce and Daniel. Daniel is now well aware of the dangers for Luce and he throws her into hiding at a new school while heads out to rid those that wish to harm Luce. In the meantime Luce is stuck in yet another school and is very upset about being without Daniel. Luce is not happy about being held captive at yet another boarding school and starts some investigating on her own and discovers how to see into her past.

For the most part of this book, I was a bit bored, not bored enough to give up but found myself missing something and having to go back because I was spacing off. The pacing could have been better for me. The story did have some good parts and some very vital parts to the story and future books. There were also some very entertaining and thrilling parts, enough to keep me going.

Luce and Daniel really did get on my nerves a bit this book. They fight a lot, Luce wines a lot; Daniel gets huffy a lot...and so on. I think that it is great they have this great love of a lifetime, but I feel like many times in their relationship they do not act with the maturity of a great love of a lifetime. I can certainly understand the age of Luce could hinder this, but I feel Daniel would have it down by now. There were some sweet moments for sure but it felt more of a brand new love to me. I am however still rooting for them!

There were some new characters introduced that I enjoyed and found very entertaining. We also get to know Luce’s family a bit more and see some interaction between Luce and her parents. It was refreshing to see a new set of characters that were a bit different and bring another snag into the story.

Overall, the writing is good, the pacing was bit slow, the characters, even though were well developed, got a bit on my nerves, and there was no conclusion... just an ending that left me hanging, but I kept reading the series, I just had to finish!

  1. I'm glad someone else noticed how annoying Daniel and Luce's relationship was! I just wish that they would have gotten their immature fights and spent more time with each other... If that makes sense? And yeah, this is definitely a build up for the next book!

    Great review!
