Wee Reads: Scaredy Monster by Meika Hashimoto

Ever since Finn was born, and even before then, we would read to him. We wanted to show him reading from an early age. Now he loves us to read the same books, over, and over, and over. But it is the sweetest thing, when he likes to pick out a book and climb into our laps.

Scaredy Monster (Scaredy Monster Book 1)Scaredy Monster by Meika Hashimoto

Scaredy Monster has a BIG secret. He's not scary like many monsters—he’s a scaredy monster! From Epic! Originals, Scaredy Monster is an illustrated early reader series about conquering fears and trying new things!
Join Scaredy Monster as he overcomes his fears of losing a tooth, riding a bike, and going to his first sleepover. With some help from Mommy Monster, Scaredy discovers he’s much braver than he thought—and he finds ways to feel safe and happy while doing scary things!

Do you like this book?
Yeah because I like monsters. Sometimes I'm a scaredy monster too but then you help me not be scared anymore.

What's your favorite part of the book?

When he was building a pillow fort! I love building forts and I love sleeping with my stuffies like he does. They help me not be scared too.

What do you think of the cover?

I love it because I love the monster and the monster bear.

Scaredy Monster is a great book that shows it's okay to be scared, and even though we're scared we can't allow that to stop us from having fun.
I feel like this is a really great book that kids of all ages can relate to. The artwork is bright and beautiful and the book is well written.

MEIKA HASHIMOTO's first baking foray was a chocolate cake. She was eight years old and, in her excitement, forgot a few key ingredients like sugar and baking powder. She also left the cake in the oven for far too long. Although it resembled a brick, her parents politely ate it and gave her very encouraging feedback. Meika's baking techniques have improved greatly since then. When she's not kneading bread dough or baking cheesecakes, she can be found editing children's books.
