Featured Question:
Tell us about a book that you didn’t like and why we shouldn’t read it (as nicely and respectfully as possible)
Answer: There are lots of books I didn't particularly like but I can't say that no one shouldn't or why they shouldn't read it. There have been a few I don't agree with and I wouldn't read because of my views.... But everyone is different. I like some books that tons of people don't and think no one else should read. If its your thing its your thing. One book I didn't read and will not read because of what it represents is The Golden Compass. Because it goes against and violates my beliefs, I won't read it. However... someone else my not see and feel the same way I do and that is fine.
I remember hearing a lot of words against that one. I never read it myself or saw the movie. Just because it didn't entice me to want to. But yeah, I never like saying someone shouldn't read a book. I actually struggled with this one, but I happened to have read a book that totally disappointed me just as the question came up, so I could answer easily. And I simply said why I didn't like this particular book as a paranormal reader. But I said it was likely more for contemporary readers, so I would recommend it to those kind of readers.

Hopping through. I've only read the first book in the Philip Pullman series. I did really enjoy it, but I understand why it's so controversial and why people wouldn't like it.

That is very true! I've never read The Golden Compass, but I saw the movie when it first came out. It doesn't really go against my beliefs, but I totally get where you are coming from!
