Assassin's Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke
Teaser:
The shadows lengthened, curled , expanded. I whirled around, looking for a pair of glowing eyes, a flick of dark fabric.
Ananna of the Tanarau abandons ship when her parents try to marry her off to an allying pirate clan: she wants to captain her own boat, not serve as second-in-command to her handsome yet clueless fiance. But her escape has dire consequences when she learns the scorned clan has sent an assassin after her.
And when the assassin, Naji, finally catches up with her, things get even worse. Ananna inadvertently triggers a nasty curse — with a life-altering result. Now Ananna and Naji are forced to become uneasy allies as they work together to break the curse and return their lives back to normal. Or at least as normal as the lives of a pirate and an assassin can be.
Top Ten is an original feature/weekly meme created here at
The Broke and the Bookish that features a great bookish top ten every week.
Okay so this week is a little more difficult to me. I love great settings but I tend to get more invested in the characters than settings. So its hard for me to wish for certian settings. I can name some I hope to see more settings in original and intriguing books.
Top Ten Settings I'd Like To See More Of:
1. Space settings... I love these space setting books, but need to see much more more...
and one I am looking forward to reading...
2. Victorian Era Steampunk - likes these
3. Dystopian Worlds... like these...
4. Post-Apocalyptic likes these...
5. More serial killers in secluded areas... like this one...
5. More Haunted Houses.. not exactly haunted per se but loved this one...
6. More Road Trips.... like these
7. More Games and Thrills... loved these
8. More amazing fantastical worlds like these...
9. More Time Travel like these...
10. And much much more dark faerie realms like these ones... please...
I agree with more space settings, more time travel, and more dark fantasy. I really loved A Million Suns and Across the Universe and Finnikin of the Rock, but I wasn't a fan of Glow. The two time travel books are on my TBR list and I absolutely loved the Wicked Lovely Series. I'm so glad Donia and Keeran end up together. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the outer space idea. I also have it on my list. I'm not a big sci-fi reader, but I've read couple books that were set on space ships that weren't totally out there into the sci-fi realm that they were intimidating.
ReplyDeleteI also included fantastical worlds. I love with when an author creates an entire world from scratch. I think it shows complete ingenuity and creativity.
