When her father disappears it is a race against time to find answers before she loses what is left of her family. Now Chloe must choose who to trust, the man who will do anything for her or the one she can’t stop thinking about.

Book one of the Doorknob Society series.

I was so very excited to start this series. The synopsis really drew me in, it sounded new and unlike anything I have read lately. The book was very enjoyable and I had a lot of fun reading it. There was a strong presence of YA cliches about the book but had enough originality to loose me int the story.

Chloe masters is the daughter of a magician and has spent her entire life int he world of magic and illusions but never knew just how real the magic really is. One night she and her father are attacked by a mysterious man and Chloe's world changes. She realizes she is part of an ancient society that can do amazing things. She is moved back home and enrolled in a private school to teach and guide her in her new life. Things are starting to get interesting for Chloe, just one problem... her father disappears and now Chloe and her friends set out to find the only family Chloe has left.

Great book. I loved the story, the setting, the characters, it was a great read. The story was something new but with all the characteristics of YA book. At times the book was predictable but I was still enjoying every moment of the read. Fast paced, exciting, full of mysteries and secrets, it was all there. The setting was amazing to me.  Dimensions and in between full of amazing creatures and magic. I loved the world that Chloe was thrown into.

The characters took me a while to grow on me. Chloe was a great main character for the most part but at first she did seem a bit on the whiny side. She has issues from when her mother disappeared and she has a childhood of secrets that she was kept from. Yes I can see the issues there, but she gets a little explosive when she doesn't get all the answers right away. It really didn't take her long to get over it and get into the kick butt, spunky, quick witted, heroine that I oh so enjoy. Of course I liked the bad boy Nightshade, who doesn't. He had some real chemistry with Chloe, but he was the average bad boy of YA books. If you like that kind of bad boy, yes I fall into that group, then Nightshade will do you just fine.

I enjoyed the book very much and will be continuing the series. I think the series is bound to be great and full of all kinds of excitement, action, romance, and more.
