Thoughts for Thursday #10 Book Hoarding

Thoughts for Thursday… Are you a book hoarder?

Once upon a time, when I didn’t read as many books as I do now, I liked to keep every book I bought. Well now I am just running out of space on my bookshelves and running out of room for new bookshelves. So I have been thinking about getting rid of some of my books and trying to come up with a way to make my mind believe it is okay to get rid of some of my books.  I have also started to go to the library more and of course my Kindle helps tremendously. I just need to slowly talk myself off the ledge and know its okay to depart from books. I am just having a hard time choosing which to get rid of. I rarely reread books and so really…. Why am I keeping them all?  So do you make the lifetime commitment to your books or do you stay single in your book relationship?

  1. This I am most guilty of more than anything else that might be deemed a bookish crime. I hoard my books so incredibly that they are starting to be in just little stacks dispersed throughout my room, my house, my boyfriend's house, etc. I've read most of them. Probably won't read many of them again but parting with them seems... unimaginable. Call me crazy, but spending countless hours buried between those pages and I feel like I've developed a pseudo-relationship with them all. I don't want to break-up with them, not ever. Should probably seek some level of therapy. Or just resolve that I'm saving them all for my kids and nieces/nephews. ; )

    Great discussion thought.

    1. That is exaclty how I feel, getting rid of them is breaking up with them. I lived in their world for so long, how do I just leave. Thanks for the comment!
