Cover Up: Recent Reads #1

This feature I will just gab, remark, feature book covers.

For this cover up I will be comparing two different editions of the same book, from books I've read recently. I will try to do this every couple weeks or so. Can be from a different country, or just a different edition in general

Review here
“Take her out back and finish her off.”
She doesn’t know who she is. She doesn’t know where she is, or why. All she knows when she comes to in a ransacked cabin is that there are two men arguing over whether or not to kill her.
And that she must run.
In her riveting style, April Henry crafts a nail-biting thriller involving murder, identity theft, and biological warfare. Follow Cady and Ty (her accidental savior turned companion), as they race against the clock to stay alive.
American Cover                                                      German Cover
The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die                               Never Forget: Das Mädchen, das sich nicht erinnern durfte

I kind of love both versions to be honest. But I think I like the German version better.

Need by Carrie Jones
Zara White suspects there's a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She's also obsessed with phobias. And it's true, she hasn't exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane...but Zara's pretty sure her mom just can't deal with her right now.
She couldn't be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara's overactive imagination. In fact, he's still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There's something not right - not human - in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara.
In this creepy, compelling breakout novel, Carrie Jones delivers romance, suspense, and a creature you never thought you'd have to fear.
American Cover                                               Indonesian Cover
Need (Need, #1)                               Need (Need, #1)

I really really like the Indonesian cover. I don't know why.

Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne
Review Here
Fourteen kids. One superstore. A million things that go wrong.
“Laybourne’s debut ably turns what could have been yet another post apocalyptic YA novel into a tense, claustrophobic, and fast-paced thriller.” (Publishers Weekly)
When Dean raced out the door to catch the school bus, he didn’t realize it would be the last time he’d ever see his mom. After a freak hailstorm sends the bus crashing into a superstore, Dean and a group of students of all ages are left to fend for themselves.
They soon realize the hailstorm and the crash are the least of their worries. After seeing a series of environmental and chemical disasters ravage the outside world, they realize they’re trapped inside the store.
Unable to communicate with the ones they love, the group attempts to cobble together a new existence. As they struggle to survive, Dean and the others must decide which risk is greater: leaving… or staying.

American Cover                                               French Cover
Monument 14 (Monument 14, #1)                               Seuls au monde (Seuls au monde, #1)

I really do not like the French cover. It looks like something someone did at home on their laptop.

American Cover                                               Other American Cover
Girl, Stolen (Girl, Stolen #1)                               Girl, Stolen

I don't like the cover with the yellow tape. It's too boring to me.

American Cover                                               Turkey Cover
The Night She Disappeared                               Kayıp Kız

I do like the cover from Turkey, but I like the American one better.

Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis
Review Here

Lynn knows every threat to her pond: drought, a snowless winter, coyotes, and, most importantly, people looking for a drink. She makes sure anyone who comes near the pond leaves thirsty, or doesn't leave at all.
Confident in her own abilities, Lynn has no use for the world beyond the nearby fields and forest. Having a life means dedicating it to survival, and the constant work of gathering wood and water. Having a pond requires the fortitude to protect it, something Mother taught her well during their quiet hours on the rooftop, rifles in hand.
But wisps of smoke on the horizon mean one thing: strangers. The mysterious footprints by the pond, nighttime threats, and gunshots make it all too clear Lynn has exactly what they want, and they won’t stop until they get it….

American Cover                                               Hungarian Cover
Not a Drop to Drink (Not a Drop to Drink, #1)                               Egyetlen kortyot sem (Egyetlen kortyot sem, #1)

I actually really really like the Hungarian cover. I love them both, I don't know which is better.

Dead Living by Glenn Bullion
Review Here

It didn’t take long for the world to die. And it didn’t take long, either, for the dead to rise.
Born on the day everything ended, a world filled with the walking dead is the only one that Aaron knows. Kept in seclusion, his family teaches him the basics. How to read and write. How to survive.
Then Aaron makes a shocking discovery. The undead, who desire nothing but flesh, ignore him. It’s as if he’s invisible to them.
The survivors of the old suburb of Lexington call a high school their home. They live day to day, without any of the luxuries mankind used to enjoy. Samantha is a product of the new world. Alone, cold, looking out only for herself. She and the other residents of Lexington feel their hope dwindling. They need change. They need someone who can face the corpses. They need someone who can live in a city of the dead.
They need Aaron.

American Cover                                              Other American Cover
    Dead Living                               Dead Living

I like the green American cover better. But the color pop on the other one is cool

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott
Review Here

Once upon a time, I was a little girl who disappeared.

Once upon a time, my name was not Alice.

Once upon a time, I didn't know how lucky I was.

When Alice was ten, Ray took her away from her family, her friends -- her life. She learned to give up all power, to endure all pain. She waited for the nightmare to be over.

Now Alice is fifteen and Ray still has her, but he speaks more and more of her death. He does not know it is what she longs for. She does not know he has something more terrifying than death in mind for her.

This is Alice's story. It is one you have never heard, and one you will never, ever forget

American Cover                                               Other American Cover
Living Dead Girl                                   Living Dead Girl

I like the cover with the dress on it better. I think it matches the book perfectly

Mind Games (Mind Games, #1)                               Sister Assassin (Sister Assassin, #1)

I really like both covers. I think the American cover is my favorite. It's so pretty.

Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1)                               Ready Player One
I don't really care for the red and yellow cover. But I do like the one that shows the Stacks in it.
