Teaser Tuesday #66 and Top Ten Tuesday #56

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading. Bloggers choose two
sentences out of our current read to peak others' curiosity.

Quarantine: The Saints (Quarantine, #2)Teaser:

This was almost the end. As soon as they let her out of this ice box, it would be all over.

Quarantine: The Saints by Lex Thomas

A cross between the Gone series and Lord of the Flies, Quarantine #2: The Saints continues this frenetically paced and scary young adult series that illustrates just how deadly high school can be.

Nothing was worse than being locked in—until they opened the door...
McKinley High has been a battle ground for eighteen months since a virus outbreak led to a military quarantine of the school. When the doors finally open, Will and Lucy will think their nightmare is finished. But they are gravely mistaken.

As a new group of teens enters the school and gains popularity, Will and Lucy join new gangs. An epic party on the quad full of real food and drinks, where kids hookup and actually interact with members of other gangs seemed to signal a new, easier existence. Soon after though, the world inside McKinley takes a startling turn for the worse, and Will and Lucy will have to fight harder than ever to survive.
The Saints brings readers back to the dark and deadly halls of McKinley High and the QUARANTINE series.

Top Ten is an original feature/weekly meme created here at
The Broke and the Bookish that features a great bookish top ten every week.

Top 10 words/topics that make me not pick up a book:

This one is HARD. I will read just about anything.... But here goes. These I try to stay away from but not always...

1. WAR: I don't like to read books about war. I do like some about the civil war but not many.

2. Politics.... yea don't like these at all!

3. Adult.... OK I do read some adult books but I must say I see adult and I want to hide. Strange I know but really they scare me.

4.  Non Fiction.... I will read some but not many really. I like my pretend worlds. I have to have a really good reason to read non fiction... some self help, devotionals, and a few topics that really interest me.

5. Erotic or Erotica.... yea don't do those at all. I like my books innocent and clean.

6.  Demons.... I have read a couple but I am really not into many books that feature demons, especially as the good guys. Just freaks me out a bit.

7.  Classics.... I know this is bad. Some are really good but for the most part, school wore me out for classics.

8.  "For the Fans of...".... I really don't like books that bring up other books to gain interest. I usually don't end up liking them if I read them and I usually don't I don't want another one of.... I want something new.

9.  Military... another one that just doesn't interest me.

10. Sport related. There are a few I have read and enjoyed but really I like to stay away from the topic.

Of course I have read books with all these things before... I just don't generally pick them up unless I have good reason.

Whats is on your list?

  1. I agree with all of them, except the classics, love those! Non-fiction I really don't like, fantasy worlds are just so much more fun:)

  5. Second time I am seeing "For fans of" example. Which I can agree! Mostly it annoys me when it involved "Twilight". That was so annoying for me. I think I even saw it on a book that predated Twilight, but because it was a reprint they thought it was acceptable.

I don't mind demons myself, then again I've only read a few books where they were main characters or even secondary ones.

I'm with you on Classics too! It's really bad since I was an English major! They just didn't appeal to me. Although I do maintain two faves that being Dracula--for obvious reasons! and The Count of Monte Cristo--one high school read that just took me totally by surprise by how much I loved it!

Also, I don't count Fairy Tales in the same realm of classics, simply because they are Fairy Tales and have their own category!

And finally, OMG creep-tastic tease! Love it!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  7. This topic is so hard!
I definitely agree with you on politics and non-fiction. Those two are instant turnsoffs.
