Forensic sculptor Eve Duncan has been summoned to Baton Rouge by a high-ranking government official to identify the remains of an unknown murder victim. Eve wants nothing to do with the project. She has finally found peace from her own tragic past, living a quiet life with Atlanta detective Joe Quinn and her adopted daughter, Jane. Then a stunning series of seemingly unrelated events turns Eve's new world upside down.

Now, in a special government facility, she takes on the project of identifying the victim's skeleton. But she hasn't even begun when another death occurs. Someone totally ruthless, who can strike anywhere at any time and with seeming immunity, is determined to put a halt to her work, her life, and the lives of those she loves. Eve has stumbled onto a chilling conspiracy. There is only one person who can give her the devastating truth . . . and he's already dead.

On to the third book of this series. This one was okay. I did like the first 2 more. The story in this one was more about politics and conspiracies. I am not as much into these stories as I am other types of suspense thrillers with just simple crazy killers. I did still  like this one, just not my favorite. I really do like Eve and Joe so it was still a treat to read the book.

Even is called into Louisiana for a job. While there things get crazy and go weird. There is a big secret around the skull she is to reconstruct. There is also a rush. In the process of finding out who this skull belongs too, death around her starts to happen and now She and Joe and Jane are once again in danger. Finding out who the evil is in this new adventure is not as easy as it seems. They are surrounded by evil and lies. Eve and Joe must find who they can trust before the killer comes for the skull... and them.

This was a good story I supposed. I am not really into the government conspiracies and tend to get a little bored if reading them. This wasn't a complete lost cause of a read for me though. There was some other good stuff in this book... New characters to enter into Eve's trusted circle, new information about Eve's past, and some trouble starts to brew for Eve and Joe's relationship. For sure there is some story building for future books and some of the story I was really into... just not the murder and conspiracy theory.

What I did like about this book was Eve and Joe and Jane and all the other awesome characters. I really like Eve and enjoy getting to know her and her past better. I also enjoy seeing her grow. She is closed off to much in the world since she lost her daughter, so the relationship she has with Joe and Jane is hard but she pushes herself. I like that Jane and Joe are opening her up to more happiness and love in the world.

I also really enjoy the forensic part of the book. I like reading about the Reconstruction and the science behind what Eve does. Seeing Louisiana in Eve's eyes was enjoyable too.

So really this book had some good and some boring for me. It wasn't my favorite but it hasn't turned me off from this series either. I am determined to get through this massive set of books and get caught up.

I enjoyed it.... not my favorite... but I still enjoyed it.
