Welcome to Normal, Kentucky~ where nothing is normal.

It's Labor Day weekend in Normal, and if you know anything about camping and RVing, you know it's one of the busiest times of the year. Unfortunately, Daniel Boone National Park is in danger of being closed due to a drought and local businesses are scrambling for ideas to survive a possible shutdown.

Happy Trails Campground is at the center of a murder in which campers as well locals are suspects. It looks likely that a local resident is responsible for the dastardly deed since the victim is the one person who had the power to shut down the national park, which would be devastating to Normal’s small businesses.

Follow Mae West as she searches for clues to get to the bottom of this Labor Day campground caper!

I have really fallen for this series. I just love the main character, Mae, and all her RV park pals. The stories always have an interesting mystery and hilarious situations. This installment followed true. It was so fun to read. This book had a slew of characters in the new mystery which follows a bachelor party, a local murder, and a visiting murder. There were secrets and treachery and shenanigans going on for sure.
Labor day weekend and the RV park has a lot going on, including some rambunctious young men staying for a bachelor party out in the woods. Sounds like my kind of party… except a body is found and the groom is missing. Oh and little Fifi, Mae's inherited dog, well she is just about to pop with her puppies. See all good stuff happening right.

These books are so much fun. I know I keep saying that but it’s just true. I love Mae, I love all the quirky characters, I love love love the local FBI agent. I love the strange mysteries. It’s just all good. The pace is good, the humor is lighthearted and keeps me giggling. The romance…. Well the romance is still trying to head in a particular direction. I am happy to report that this book, Mae actually realizes something that I have been trying to tell her for the last two books. She is finally figuring out who her love life needs to involve. YAY for that.

The mystery in this one was quite funny in many ways and also just full of all kinds of things that shouldn’t be. Of course with a bachelor party out at an RV part… the boys are bound to be headed for trouble. The groom goes missing… sounds like the beginning of a few movies I have seen. A bride that comes a visiting is full of all kinds of secrets. Yup it’s a recipe for trouble. I enjoyed digging into this mystery. I love that it has many levels and even more bodies. Are they connected, not connected. That is the question.

Really the mystery is pretty good but what is even better are all the relationships in this book that keep on building. IT seems every installment we are introduced to more of the towns people, which is always fun. There is always more chances of relationships building along with the ones that are already in progress. There were a few people from last books that weren’t really in this book, which I missed… but I am sure they will pop up again. My favorites were there. That is all that matters.

The romance has never been the center of the story but I have felt it missing in past books. There always seems to be a hint of something coming but never arrives. This book had more promise of something happening. So fingers crossed for the next book. Which the audio should be released next month. I will be getting it for sure, preordering as soon as it is available… because I just adore this series.

Still at the top in my cozy mystery bookshelf.
