Wee Reads: Noodlephant by Jacob Kramer

Ever since Finn was born, and even before then, we would read to him. We wanted to show him reading from an early age. Now he loves us to read the same books, over, and over, and over. But it is the sweetest thing, when he likes to pick out a book and climb into our laps.

NoodlephantNoodlephant by Jacob Kramer

Famous for her pasta parties, Noodlephant is shocked when the law-loving kangaroos decide noodles are only for them!

Noodlephant won’t let this stand―Noodlephants can’t survive on sticks and branches, after all. Determined to do something to push back against an unjust law, she and her friends invent a machine that transforms pens into penne, pillows into ravioli, and radiators into radiatori. With that, the pasta parties are back! But that very night, the kangaroos come bounding through the door… ready to enforce their unjust laws. A zany tale of full of pasta puns, friendship, and one Phantastic Noodler, Noodlephant, written by Jacob Kramer and illustrated by K-Fai Steele, explores a community’s response to injustice.

Do you like this book?
Yeah because it has elephants! And other animals.

What's your favorite part of the book?
When he makes everything into noodles. He even makes the book into noodles!

What do you think of the cover?
It has a lot of noodles and an elephant. I want noodles.

This book is absolutely adorable. This elephant is so obsessed with noodles that they call him Noodlephant. Well one day these evil kangaroos decide that ONLY kangaroos can eat noodles. The kangaroos are awful, they tell the other animals that they're the only ones who can do... well just about anything. And if the other animals do it they get sent to the zoo.

The story is adorable and unique, how many elephants do you know that love noodles? I can't think of any.

So the elephant says no I am going to make and eat noodles even after the kangaroos tell him not to. And he gets sent to the zoo. Where he uses this machine that he made that makes literally anything into noodles. Which is pretty weird.

The writing was cute and I loved the illustrations. The book was of course hard to read on kindle, it was all out of order, but it was still good.

I studied writing and filmmaking at Harvard, and went on to work in tech (booo) and on an ice cream truck (yes!). I now focus on community organizing and writing kids books. My work is joyful, anti-authoritarian, and all about how if the little guys band together, we will win.
