Dahlia 16's life is a lie. The city of Lakeview isn't a utopia that raises individuals for the greater good; it is a clone farm that mass-produces servants for the elite. And because Dahlia breaks the rules, her sisters--the 4,999 girls who share her face--are destroyed. She and Trigger 17, the soldier who risked his life for hers, go on the run, escaping into the wild outside the city walls. But it turns out Dahlia has one remaining identical, one who shouldn't even exist.

Waverly Whitmore is teenage royalty, a media sensation with millions of fans who broadcasts her every move--including every detail of her wedding planning, leading up to the day she marries Hennessy Chapman. Waverly lives a perfect life built on the labors of clones like Dahlia. She has no idea that she too is a clone . . . until she comes face to face with Dahlia.

One deadly secret. Two genetic sisters. And a world that isn't big enough for both of them.
What made me pick this book up:
Well I had read the first one and loved it.

What did I like about the cover:
I love the clones, and I love how the one stands out from the rest. It matches the book so well.

What made me read this book:
Like I said, I read and loved the first one. Of course I was going to read the second.

What did I like the most:
I'm writing this review about 3 weeks after I finished the book. Whoops. I don't remember much about it to be honest. But I'll do my best.

The story is good, of course. It picks up right where it left off in the first one. Literally right where it left off.

All the questions that we had, got answered pretty quickly actually.

I love reading about all the futuristic technology. Waverly has this amazing thing where she puts a suit on and stands in front of a screen and it tries clothes on her that she can buy and have delivered to her.

So no leaving the house, no actually trying anything on. It's amazing. Plus it shows her how hair and makeup will look on her.

So cool.

The other cool thing is that they get these tattoos on them, that signify important dates. Like marriage. And the tattoos move and change colors.

So. Cool.

Okay back to the review.

Like I said, the story is interesting and really great. It's really well written and it feels like it just pulls you into the story.

There's a certain part, I can't actually talk about, because spoilers, but I felt like I was in the room with them and it made me cringe, get angry, and I felt my heart drop all at once.

The characters are great. Honestly Waverly is my favorite character. She is actually really sweet and kind and thoughtful. I thought she would end up being this stuck up brat but she turned out to be so much more than that. Hennessy too. The things they have to go through and how they handle them is just really great.

And the ending is just amazing. So amazing. I felt myself holding my breath, even though you can basically guess how it's going to end.

It gave me all the feels.

What didn't I like:
The whole idea of clones is just so sad. They're people too, and the things they have to go through is just awful and heartbreaking.

But that's really it.

Would I read the rest of the series/more from this author?
Uh, yes.

  1. I haven't read this one but I did read Never Let Me Go and watched that film. I did feel so bad for the clones.
