Review:

This was one of the first mermaid books I read and I loved it. I loved the characters, the story, and the writing.

The story is about a girl, part mermaid, who must make the decision to answer the call of the ocean and live as mermaid or stay human and live with her friends and family. The book is filled with adventure, mystery, romance, and some evil. What is a mermaid story without the sea witch. Of course there is a love triangle. It seems that is what is hot in the YA paranormal world. The story also has a bit of family drama and family loyalty.

Tempest was easy for me to like and easy for me to hate. She had her good moments and her very selfish moments. I can’t say that blame her. I am not sure how I would handle a decision between the ones I love or the life I love. This story really had a great cast of characters, the father, the boyfriend, and the mysterious stranger boy.

The story was beautifully written, The author painted a very clear picture for me of the world that Tempest lived in and came from. I wanted to know more and the pages kept turning. I found myself gasping and reading with excited anticipation. The end left me wanting for more.

I really did enjoy the book and am very excited to read the next book.

  1. I really like main characters who are multi-faceted and flawed. and the fact that she got you to like and hate her, means you were invested!
    Sounds great:)!

  2. I love mermaid books. They are too scarce in the YA section of books, though. I think I'd like this one- thanks for the review!
