Follow Friday #3

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Rachel of Parajunkee and Alison of Alison Can Read

Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

My Answer:

Hmmmm. I think that all my favorite books have defined character building. I love a good story but most of all I need to feel that the characters and I are on a first name basis and we hang out every day during the time I read the book.(sometimes even when I am done) I can't stop thinking about the characters or if I wonder how a character would react or think to my real life situations, then I am hooked on that book.

Whats your Answer?

  1. I agree. It's important to also get to know the characters. Characters are what make the story come to life. Also, I find that if you can't really identify with the characters, it doesn't become really appealing.

[: Oh, and I love a good character building story also. I can't help but to feel all giddy at the end if my favorite guy or gal has jumped some kind or hurdle.

  11. I always think a well written character remains a lifelong friend.. I mean seriously, I fell in love with Aragorn when I was 10... haven't fallen out of love with him yet.. and it has been a LONG time..

  13. I love it when I feel like a character is my friend/family/enemy, as it makes them seem that much more real to me. Books with such characters are a constant in my life as I reread them until the binding breaks and I need to get a new copy.

    Returning the follow. Thanks.

  14. Hi, thanx for following BLYTHES and BOOKS, returning the favor!

I know what you mean that the characters and you have to be friends! Sometimes you ARE the characers, other times you just befriend them. But there has to be chemistry and growth, I agree! Only downside: when the book ends, you're left friendless :(

    Happy reading! ;)

  15. It's amazing how difficult it is to have solid character development and chemistry. When it's done right it's truly amazing and definitely sticks with you. Great answer!
