Since Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has so few living relatives, she hates to lose one - even her cousin Hadley, undead consort of the vampire Queen of Louisiana. Hadley's left everything she has to Sookie, but claiming that inheritance has a high risk factor. Some people don't want her looking too deeply into Hadley's past, or Hadley's possessions. And they're prepared to do anything in their power to stop her. Whoever it is, they're definitely dangerous - and Sookie's life is definitely on the line...

I enjoyed this book. I think I will continue to enjoy these fun and light reads. This book I liked a bit more than the last. It seems that Each book brings a little something more to keep me hooked. All the same crazy characters with a few new ones to spice things up. The story might finally be taking on a new plot line. I am excited to see where this story will go.

In this installment of Sookie’s life, things have seem to taken someone what of a different direction. AT least in men. There is a new on that is interested in Sookie. Also things are happening that involve death and destruction because it always does. There seems to possibly be a hit out on one of the vampire queens. The weres might be the ones that are guilty but some what dating a were tiger could also mean trouble for Sookie. Oh and Sookie finds a bit more information about her heritage… There is more going on with Jason, her brother…. And well things are just a mess it seems.

Another day in the life of Sookie Stackhouse. I would love to see her just have one day off from death and danger and all that bloody stuff. But I guess when you are mixed up with all the supernaturals the rest just comes along with it. Everything seems to be a mess for Sookie. Jason is going through some stuff with his girlfriend, The wolves are out to find the truth about Debbie
s disappearance, there is a new were in town… a tiger and he is hot for Sookie. And there is a little trouble with royalty…. Oh and of course Sookie has to go deal with all her cousins stuff in new Orleans. So there is a lot going on in this book. Which I tend to like. It seems if there is only one thing going on with Sookie, her life gets a little dull.

So what this book brought me. Very little of Bill… maybe just a tad bit more of Eric. A whole lot of Tiger… some steamy scenes with said tiger. A mystery that just was good and simple. What I appreciate in this book and the last…. There seems to be more story less sex with vampires. Which I like. Those scenes were getting a little old. Also the mystery in this one… wasn’t as much about Sookie as it was someone else for a change. In fact Sookie really didn’t need to get involved, she only did by accident because her cousin was mixed up with the Queen. It was a nice change of pace.

Sookie is Sookie in this book and I don’t love her but don’t hate her. I hope one day she starts to grow up more. She is so hell bent on worrying about what everyone else things, she can’t just be herself. I want to see her just be herself. I love the new were in the picture. I mean I would love to see Sookie with Sam or Eric… but I don’t think that will ever be… the tiger is nice too. He seems pretty cool and I hope to get to know a bit more about him in the next book.

Lots of action and mystery and story. I think there is big stuff coming in the future books… it feels there is a build up for fireworks and worlds falling apart. I am ready.

This series is still going strong for me.

Charlaine HarrisCharlaine Harris has been a published novelist for over thirty-five years. A native of the Mississippi Delta, she grew up in the middle of a cotton field. Charlaine lives in Texas now, and all of her children and grandchildren are within easy driving distance.

Though her early output consisted largely of ghost stories, by the time she hit college (Rhodes, in Memphis) Charlaine was writing poetry and plays. After holding down some low-level jobs, her husband Hal gave her the opportunity to stay home and write. The resulting two stand-alones were published by Houghton Mifflin. After a child-producing sabbatical, Charlaine latched on to the trend of series, and soon had her own traditional mystery books about a Georgia librarian, Aurora Teagarden. Her first Teagarden, Real Murders, garnered an Agatha nomination.

Soon Charlaine was looking for another challenge, and the result was the much darker Lily Bard series. The books, set in Shakespeare, Arkansas, feature a heroine who has survived a terrible attack and is learning to live with its consequences.

When Charlaine began to realize that neither of those series was ever going to set the literary world on fire, she regrouped and decided to write the book she’d always wanted to write. Not a traditional mystery, nor yet pure science fiction or romance, Dead Until Dark broke genre boundaries to appeal to a wide audience of people who simply enjoy a good adventure. Each subsequent book about Sookie Stackhouse, telepathic Louisiana barmaid and friend to vampires, werewolves, and various other odd creatures, was very successful in many languages.

The Harper Connelly books were written concurrently with the Sookie novels.

Following the end of Sookie's recorded adventures, Charlaine wrote the "Midnight, Texas" books, which have become a television series, also. The Aurora Teagarden books have been adapted by Hallmark Movie & Mystery.

Charlaine is a member of many professional organizations, an Episcopalian, and currently the lucky houseparent to two rescue dogs. She lives on a cliff overlooking the Brazos River.
