Wee Reads: Starry Skies by Samantha Chagollan

Ever since Finn was born, and even before then, we would read to him. We wanted to show him reading from an early age. Now he loves us to read the same books, over, and over, and over. But it is the sweetest thing, when he likes to pick out a book and climb into our laps.

Starry Skies: Learn about the constellations above usStarry Skies by Samantha Chagollan

Every night, the sky is filled with stars that tell a thousand tales. Brave warriors, regal queens, fierce beasts -- they all parade across the starry skies each night. In Starry Skies you’ll discover some of the most famous constellations and learn how to find them in the night sky.
With brilliant illustrations by Nila Aye, you will see the shapes of each constellation, and imagine what they might look like when you look up into the dark sky above. This introduction to astronomy is all you need to start learning about stars, so get ready, star hunters, and look to the skies!

Do you like this book?
No, because it has no pictures! It's just boring.

What's your favorite part of the book?
I don't like it. I want to see the stars!

What do you think of the cover?
Yeah because it's black! And has yellow stars!

Do you want me to read it again?
When it has pictures!

This one really didn't hold Finn's attention simply because it didn't have any pictures. It was a great read that taught about constellations. But because of the lack of pictures it didn't mean much to Finn. I would love to see the final version of the book and read it to him, I'm sure the artwork will be beautiful.
We received an ARC of this version on my Kindle from Netgalley. I would love to buy the book once it's finished.

Samantha Chagollan is a born storyteller. And a real smart aleck, if you ask her mom.

She’s also an award-winning author and editor of a variety of children’s fiction and nonfiction books. A native Southern Californian, Samantha grew up with a passion for telling and writing stories.
Through the family’s art store in Huntington Beach, California, she taught arts and crafts to both children and adults for five years. She went on to earn a degree in literature from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, where she focused her studies on multicultural literature and the Spanish language.
After working as an editor and writer in book publishing for many years, she focused her work in the financial services industry as a marketing communications manager for several years. Samantha is currently working as a freelance content creator, editor and writer and is probably crafting a new story at this very moment

    1. It's just because it was the ARC version.

  2. Awww, sorry to hear there weren't any pictures in the unfinished version of the book. That would have disappointed me as well, especially since the cover is so cute.

  3. That is a shame the arc doesn't contain any illustrations.
