Teaser Tuesday: Dead Living by Glenn Bullion and The Truth Beneath the Lies by Amanda Searcy

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Books and a Beat. Bloggers choose two
sentences out of our current read to peak others' curiosity.

Dead Living
Dead Living by Glenn Bullion

It didn’t take long for the world to die. And it didn’t take long, either, for the dead to rise.
Born on the day everything ended, a world filled with the walking dead is the only one that Aaron knows. Kept in seclusion, his family teaches him the basics. How to read and write. How to survive.
Then Aaron makes a shocking discovery. The undead, who desire nothing but flesh, ignore him. It’s as if he’s invisible to them.
The survivors of the old suburb of Lexington call a high school their home. They live day to day, without any of the luxuries mankind used to enjoy. Samantha is a product of the new world. Alone, cold, looking out only for herself. She and the other residents of Lexington feel their hope dwindling. They need change. They need someone who can face the corpses. They need someone who can live in a city of the dead.
They need Aaron.

Teaser:
Frank and Denise stayed under the desk for ten minutes. There was nothing they could do. The creatures grew bored of the cold flesh they shoved in their mouths. They rose up and wandered away, searching for their next hot meal. Some went outside, while others went deeper into the hospital.

Ash's thoughts:
I haven't gotten far into this book yet either, but I love how it just starts in with action as soon as you pick it up. Definitely excited to read it.

Fight or Flight.

All Kayla Asher wants to do is run. Run from the government housing complex she calls home. Run from her unstable mother. Run from a desperate job at No Limit Foods. Run to a better, cleaner, safer life. Every day is one day closer to leaving.

All Betsy Hopewell wants to do is survive. Survive the burner phone hidden under her bed. Survive her new rules. Survive a new school with new classmates. Survive being watched. Every minute grants her another moment of life.

But when fate brings Kayla and Betsy together, only one girl will live.

Teaser:

I have to turn back and look. The light is green. The sedan doesn't move. I'm overreacting. It's probably someone texting and not paying attention.

Jenn's Thoughts:

I haven't reached this part in the book yet. I just opened and reached for a paragraph. I am not sure what is going on here but it sounds a little suspenseful. I am barely into this book but I am really enjoying it so far. I think it's going to get real good real fast.

  2. I read DEAD LIVING a few years ago and really liked it. I can only do zombie books every so often because I'm a baby LOL. I liked that there was a guy that was immune to the zombies-- it was so cool that he could go and gather supplies for everybody.
