The Goddess Test meets Dexter in an edgy, compelling debut about one teen’s quest for revenge… no matter how far it takes her.

Cory Graff is not alone in her head. Bound to a deal of desperation made when she was a child, Cory’s mind houses the Furies—the hawk and the serpent—lingering always, waiting for her to satisfy their bloodlust. After escaping the asylum where she was trapped for years, Cory knows how to keep the Furies quiet. By day, she lives a normal life, but by night, she tracks down targets the Furies send her way. And she brings down Justice upon them.

Cory’s perfected her system of survival, but when she meets a mysterious boy named Niko at her new school, she can’t figure out how she feels about him. For the first time, the Furies are quiet in her head around a guy. But does this mean that Cory’s finally found someone who she can trust, or are there greater factors at work? As Cory’s mind becomes a battlefield, with the Furies fighting for control, Cory will have to put everything on the line to hold on to what she’s worked so hard to build.....

I was so happy to be apart of this tour. When I participated in the cover reveal a long way back, I was intrigued by the synopsis. I love books that are inspired by Greek Mythology. I am not one to usually like a revenge story but this one sounded like it had promise. I enjoyed the read very much. It was dark and powerful, intense and exciting.

Cory is on the run, from the law, herself, and becoming close to anyone. Cory had a very hard childhood, and when she was in trouble the furies came to save her. Since then the furies have not let her go. They are in control and they are constantly seeking revenge on every evil man they can find. Along the way, she meets Niko, a boy that makes her want to change everything about herself and keep the furies away.

I liked the book. I was very pleased with the story, the characters, and the direction the book took. I do get a little weary of revenge books. This book portrayed the emotions of revenge well. I like the story of the furies, how they came about, what they stood for, and their place in Cory's life. The book was well paced and flowed nicely and the writing was exceptional.

The furies came about to protect Cory from some pretty serious things in her past and in return they demanded Cory find them evil man so that they can bring justice. The furies were very blood thirsty. They were evil among themselves, but they felt they were doing the right thing and had Cory convinced too. The way they found the men entertained me. Searching newspaper articles they would find men who have wronged woman in terrible ways... these terrible ways didn't always deserve the extreme punishment the furies wanted to give. The furies were just evil but they were always there to protect Cory. As a reader, I was able to yell at the book and try to tell Cory that the furies were only there for her to get what they wanted. But of course yelling at your books gets you know where.
I really liked Cory's character. I understood her struggle, her fear, and her damage from the beginning. It was easy to fall into the patter on Cory's life with the furies. In a way I felt connected to the furies through Cory. I went through so many emotions with Cory throughout my read. Her life made me sad, angry, fearful, and I wanted her to take control. She started out timid and let the furies work through her because she couldn't handle things herself, what it did to her was allow the furies to be the stronger part of her mind. They were in control when she didn't want them to be. I liked seeing that she struggled with allowing the furies to do their part and the part of her that wanted the furies to stop and to leave her alone. She was scared to allow them to have the control, but scared to force them to leave. Cory eventually came around to see that what the furies were about wasn't right. She was afraid to get close to anyone because she didn't know when she would have to leave. The furies believe every male form on the planet is evil and will eventually wrong women. This was very hard for Cory when she met Nico.

Nico was a great character in the story. Cory felt drawn to him right away and Niko was also interested in her. He kind of made himself a part of her life and ended really helping her out. What I liked about Niko the most is they way he stuck by her side, determined to help her and be there for her. He never left her side and helped her through the worst of things.

The love story was a little bit of insta love but it was still sweet. I like sweet. I think the love story was a great addition to the story and I enjoyed the part it played. Cory wanted to change before she met Niko, but the love and affection Niko showed her is what gave her the strongest desire to change and the strength to do it.

I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the writing. I think the only thing that kept it from being 4 hearts for me is the character connection. I liked the characters but I didn't connect to them quite as Strong as I like. If this was a series, I would love to read more! It is worth the read for the dark and gritty story and the creativity of the story and the beautiful writing.
