A dystopian romance that takes place on an island and is the melding of mythologies from two different cultures.

Her destiny was written in the books...but can she change a course that has already begun thousands of years ago?

Mackenzy Evers had moved with her mother from Angel Island to Aeros Island during her senior year. What can be worse than to finish her senior year at a new school?

Living during the post-Erosion period on Earth where there is less land than before, Mac is happy to discover an island of rich beauty and lush landscapes, not to mention mysterious handsome boys and an ancient prophecy that is set to come true in Mac's lifetime.

Chance Cutter claims she is his Queen, his goddess to his Fire King, whom he had been searching for years. Their attraction to each other is undeniable, yet why does he seem to hate her? And who is she really?

Review:
I have been reading bunches of mythological books lately with mermaids and sirens, it was nice to read to a different type of mythological plot. The cover is pretty cool looking, the title is great, and the story was a really intriguing. I enjoyed the book from the first page. It was a very fast read and a real page turner.

The story is a mythological read set in a dystopian era. Very awesome. I loved the feel of the book. Mac just moved to Aros Island with her mother for her mother’s new job working in a hotel. The owner of the hotel, Antonio, has a nephew, Varun, and a son, Chance. Mac meets both. Chance, who sets her heart of fire, msysterious, hot, and seems to really dislike her for never really meeting her. Varun, a very sweet, caring, good-looking boy with a clear agenda, he likes her, he wants to date her. Mixed feelings for both she finds that this love triangle goes back thousands of years when she was a fire goddess, so she is told. Now she must pass a test to be sure she is the fire goddess, only glitch is failing means death by fire, and it passing could save the world or end the world.

The plot is pretty cool in this book. Definitely original from what I have seen and the love triangle and insta love fit in nicely once the myth of the fire goddess, fire god, and water god are told. The book flowed very nicely for me. The writing was very fast paced, I did find myself having to reread a few parts, and I went through it so quickly I missed a few things and found myself confused. That was only me being overly excited to find out what happens next. The story unfolds nicely, only parts that seem to be missing is ones that are meant to be missing for the mystery and suspense.

I liked the characters in this book, the book flew by so quickly I didn’t feel as strong of a connection as I would have liked, but there are more books, and I know that I will see more character building the further I read. What I did see I liked. Mac is very curious and very head strong, she does what she wants and that’s that. She does fall for both boys but knows that she needs to make a choice, it’s breaking her heart and not fair to them. She questions everything and is skeptical about it all but is willing to see where it leads. Chance is hot but that is about all I got from him. He seems a bit stuck up at first, but he seems to have a good heart beneath the hard core outside. I am sure I will see more of him in the next book. Varun is sweet. He cares so much for Mac. He is very romantic and the all-around good boy,

In the end I found myself wishing for more, wanting the next book, and very satisfied with what I did read. I just wish it didn’t just end like it did. ARGH! An ending that really isn’t an ending… To be continued might as well have been on the last page. I will of course continue on in the series.
